Shell Mountain

You remember how, in The Neverending Story, Atreyu has to find Morla the Aged one so she can tell him how to save the Childlike Empress, and he travels through the Swamps of Sadness to Shell Mountain and climbs the mountain, and feels a rumble and slides off the mountain into a tree, and discovers that the mountain isn’t really a mountain but the gigantic shell of the enormous turtle, Morla the Aged one?

Well, this wasn’t like that scene at all, really. But I do think the tortoises are doing a really good job of impersonating the rocks:

(Except for this tortoise, who really wanted to be let back into the reptile house:)

There's a third one among the rocks, isn't there? Or is that a rock?

And was the one hanging out by the door saying, let me in! I left my cell phone in there!?

They need a more attractive habitat to make them look as gorgeous as they are. Brick is not a good backdrop.

Maybe that's why the one tortoise so desperately wanted to go inside--it's eager to redecorate.
